This guide explains the most common maid cafe terms in romaji (Japanese written in Latin letters) with clear English meanings.

Okaerinasaimase, Goshujin-sama / Ojou-sama

Romaji: Okaerinasaimase, Goshujin-sama / Ojou-sama

English: “Welcome home, Master / Mistress.”

The signature greeting in every maid cafe. Maids act as though you’re returning to your own mansion. “Goshujin-sama” is for male guests, “Ojou-sama” for female guests.

Moe Moe Kyun

Omurice

English: A small instant photo (Polaroid-style) with your chosen maid. She will decorate the photo with colorful pens and write messages, making it a popular souvenir.

Oishiku Nare!

English: “Become delicious!” – A fun chant where the maid and guest make a heart shape with their hands over the dish, believed to “add magic” to the flavor.

Nyan Nyan Pose / Pyon Pyon Pose

Romaji: Nyan Nyan Pozu / Usagi Pozu

English: Cute photo poses – “Nyan Nyan” means meow meow, with paws up; “Pyon Pyon” is an onomatope for bunny's jumping, with hand-made ears. Very common during cheki photos.
